The official cutting of the ribbon

The new Complimentary Therapy Unit at the Cancer Connect charity was officially opened recently by Past President Colin Beattie. This Project was selected by Colin as his chosen charity during his Presidential year in 2011/2012. The building was manufactured and erected by Erne Boats, Lisnaskea which is owned by his son Alard.

Several local companies provided materials and time for the project. Substantial funding was also provided by Cooneen, Watts and Stone.

Past President Colin commented "The treatment room has been in use since the Spring of this year and is proving a much needed and appreciated extension to the facilities already on offer by Cancer Connect. The Rotary Club of Enniskillen are very pleased and proud to have been able to assist with this facility"

President of Enniskillen Rotary Club Roy Crawford commented "I would like to praise the continuing work of Cancer Connect NI on the service they are providing to local people who have been diagnosed with cancer. I am greatly impressed by the wide range of services on offer, and the warmth and support shown by the staff working with the charity. On behalf of Enniskillen Rotary Club I want to express our appreciate for the hard work and devotion of so many people directly involved with the Project."

Breda McGrenaghan the Manager of the Centre extended a warm welcome to Rotarians and friends of the centre. "The Charity provides support, guidance, practical help and a range of services free of charge to those touched by cancer. The aim of the therapies is to work alongside conventional medical treatments to reduce anxiety, alleviate pain and promote personal well-being. Currently an average of 422 complimentary therapies are offered annually within the centre free of charge to male and female clients." Breda also thanked the Rotary Club for their support with the project and also all the local firms who so generously donated materials and time.

Following the official cutting of the ribbon, guests were given a tour of the new Unit by Breda and two of the complementary practitioners Bernardine and Angela who give of their services free of charge.
